Our new Website
We were definitely slow getting this issue out the door.  But its for a good reason.  We finally have our redesigned website up and running.  You'll enjoy the fast, error-free secure online ordering.   Our site had gotten so much traffic and so many orders that our shopping cart software was just not up to the task.  This spring, we upgraded to a completely new version which, we hope, kept the best parts of the old system while adding some new, more robust functionality.

We've also made some changes in how you type in the color numbers for large orders of yarn or floss.  For Paternayan yarn and DMC floss (and the 4mm silk ribbon) we now have the box for you to type in all your colors on the page where you add the product to your shopping cart.  That way you don't get caught up in the ordering process and forget to type your colors in.  Look for the box on the right hand side of the detail page, in the area labeled "Ordering options.

We did lose somewhat the ability to quickly search for new items.  It's still there, but buried on the Advanced Search page.  If you want to see what we've added recently, go to the Search page, click on Advanced Search and all the way at the bottom is the menu box for "Added to Inventory" and then you select how new you are looking for - last month, last 3 months, etc.

Floss and Thread Storage
It's always a challenge to find places to put your thread.  I have tried a number of systems with mixed success.  Currently, I wind my DMC floss on plastic bobbins and store them all in color order in a plastic divided organizer with a lid.  Not bad.  But the fancy threads would be damaged if I wound them on a bobbin, so I put these in File-a-Floss baggies and put them in my sewing basket.  I'm OK with that solution, but the floss bobbins haven't really been all that satisfactory.

DMC has introduced a new organizing system that is pretty neat.  It's called the Stitchbow, and you've probably seen it in all the stitching magazines.  It's designed to handle skeined floss, like the DMC embroidery floss we carry.  But it will also hold Anchor and any of the overdyed flosses that are skeined the same as DMC.   Rather than unwinding and rewinding your thread, you just slide it onto the Stitchbow holder and put the tubular thread label on a special tab where it will tell you what color is on the holder at the moment.  By themselves, the stitchbows are great, but they can get tangled up if you just toss them in a drawer.  Not to fear, there are lots of great add-on products to help you organize the Stitchbow Floss Holders.

I've handled them all, and they definitely get the job done at a fair price.  There are plastic cases designed mostly for floss storage in the home, and there are various travel bags that you can carry your floss and supplies for projects.  Go to our site and type Stitchbow in the search box on any page and you'll see the floss holders and a couple of organizers.  I'm so excited about organization, I'm thinking about doing another informative article - this time about your organizing options.  Stay tuned.

New Stuff
We all like to see new things.  In addition to the Stitchbow organizing system, we have added some fun new needlepoint canvases from the recent Dallas needlework market.  I especially like "Frank," the dog who stole the frankfurters.  He's too funny!

For one lucky shopper, there is a full nativity set, and a partial one by Tapestry Tent, both at greatly reduced prices.  The full set was a sample that was not ordered, and would normally retail for several hundred dollars.  You'll find it here for about 75% off.  Keep watching the new items - we have to get the scan complete.

To find new stuff, follow the directions in the first section about our new website to find everything we added in the last several months.
