Searching for Sales!
If
you don't needlepoint, you may be tired of scrolling through 6 pages
of canvas designs to find the cross stitch sale items. To
narrow your search, visit the Search page and select
Advanced Search, then select Needlepoint as the Category, then go to
the bottom of the page and check the box for Sale prices only.
Voila! This works for any category!

Everyone
needs a good project for the summer. Preferably something
small and portable. We like these two ideas best:
- Stitch N Zip eyeglass cases for needlepoint.
Everything you need is included. Buy several, make
them as gifts for Christmas.
- Learn crewel embroidery using the Chrysanthemum
(only a few left!) or the Lowell
Sampler beginner kits
Of course, anything small is good for travel. If you're
in a car or RV, you can bring something larger, like a lap base
and scroll frame for a bigger cross stitch project. They
fold flat for convenient storage, but open to full size when
you're working. Add the travel magnifier/light and you can
stitch at night when lighting is dim. See a range of
choices on our lamps page.

crewel kits |

|
I We've
added some really nice crewel kits to the website while closing
out some slow movers. The New Bedford designs are classic,
and are available in both pillow and bell pull
styles. We think this would coordinate nicely with
the Lowell Sampler and the Jacobean Panel kits. Very
traditional, quite lovely. We're pleased to offer these.
"Under
Construction" has been one of our best-selling crewel
kits for years. But if you wanted to do more birds, we
didn't have much of a selection. Elsa Williams now has 2
more bird kits, just darling. "Baby
Makes Three" is a sweet birdhouse that you work
completely in crewel embroidery, while Falls
Serenade is a printed color design on which you work mostly
the birds, so it will go fast.
To find new stuff, click on the
Advanced Search link on our home page, then go to the bottom of
the Advanced Search page and find the section labeled
"Added to Inventory in" and select the time period -
for example, last 30 days. |

Faberge Eggs for
Needlepoint |
Another
great small project idea for summer. These egg designs by
Lee are fun and actually fairly easy. We like them worked
mostly in floss (metallic and otherwise). Some of the eggs
now have suggested floss colors in the detailed Product
Description. We have tried to coordinate the colors
between the eggs so that if there is a pale blue in one egg, we
use the same blue in at least a few of the other eggs.
That way, if you're building a collection of these, they will be
color coordinated as well as cheaper because you didn't have to
buy a lot of different threads. Not all of the eggs have a
color list, but we're slowly getting it done.
Finish these eggs for framing, or use them to cover a
styrofoam egg using taffeta, braid and ribbon for a truly
elegant showcase for your stitching. If you use a wide
braid to cover the transition from your needlepoint to the
backing fabric, you can cover a lot of imperfections while
making your egg fabulous. When your egg is complete,
purchase a small/medium gold stand at a local gift shop.
They sell these for round candles as well as for onyx eggs that
are popular for decorating right now. Or find one of the
stands used to hang large Christmas ornaments and hang your
egg. Using a quality display stand gives your egg a custom
look, but you can always just use 3 decorative hatpins to make a
simple stand right on the egg.
