 Needle Treasures
has just introduced a line of DisplayMates. These have a shadow box,
stitching design, and miniature trinkets for that finishing touch. No more
expensive framing. These are great quickie projects that make fabulous
gifts. We love 'em!
Stitchers who don't like counting the holes can try a stamped
kit. These have the x designs already stamped onto the cotton
fabric. You just use the chart to tell you what colors go where.
More durable projects can be
 made
on plastic
canvas - these are great for christmas ornaments. Perforated
paper also makes a stiffer design than fabric and requires no backing.
All of these are wonderful alternatives to traditional counted cross stitch.

Types of Kits
Embellished (design is printed fabric - you decorate with cross, 1/2
cross, french knots etc)
Charted (you get fabric, thread and a chart, and stitch everything)
Stamped (the design is printed on fabric; some printed sections
may be decorative only and not require stitching)
Plastic Canvas (use floss but stitch on rigid plastic, typically
14 count)
Perforated paper - heavy paper with holes, rather like plastic canvas
but not quite as thick.
