use back button to return to site Tip 4 - Changing fabric count To find out how large a design is/will be when changing fabric count:
Design Stitch Size Known example: The pattern tells you the size is 72x86 stitches. You want to stitch on 16 count. Just divide the design dimensions by 16 to get the inches occupied by the design. DON"T FORGET to add extra fabric all around the design before cutting/buying fabric, usually 3" on all sides, or 6 extra inches total, each direction. Design size in inches is known example: Pattern tells you the design size is 3" if stitched on 16 count. Multiply image size by recommended fabric stitch count to get number of stitches in the design (3" design times 16 count fabric = 48 stitches. Now you can put your stitch count into the Fabric Size Calculator. Or continue with math: divide by new fabric count (48 stitches divided by 14 count = new design size). ADD the extra fabric all around the design before buying/cutting fabric (2 times the extra width plus 2x the extra height because you need the extra on both sides). .Ths technique works for both cross stitch and needlepoint calculations. copyright 2002 discountneedlework.com |
